TOPIC:  As Major General Franz Sigel sought to secure Union control of the Shenandoah Valley with some 10,000 men, Major General John C. Breckinridge assembled a scratch command to repulse them. Included within the ranks of his 4,500-man army were cadets from the Virginia Military Institute.  Join author Charlie Knight to discover a wide array of soldiers, civilians, and politicians who were swept up in one of the war’s most gripping engagements.
