Lecture Topic:  On November 2, 1862 Jeb Stuart was tasked with slowing down McClellan's push to Fredericksburg. On this day John Pelham's star would shine again, masterfully moving his cannons. Six weeks before, at Sharpsburg, Jackson had stated "if we had a Pelham on both flanks we would have won the battle." Six weeks after the battle of Unison Lee would praise Pelham at Fredericksburg. Pelham's amazing exploits at Sharpsburg and Fredericksburg are well known, but the battle of Unison is not. Robert Lee Hodge will illustrate Pelham's big day at Unison, Virginia.

Speaker:  For over 30 years Robert has worked on several history-based films – from dramas like ABC’s North and South and TNT’s Gettysburg and Andersonville, to many programs on The History Channel, Arts and Entertainment Channel, and the National Geographic Channel, to his own Civil War documentaries that have won 5 Telly awards and a regional Emmy in 2007. Hodge has been featured on National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation and Soundscapes, NBC’s Late, Late ShowThe New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, the PBS program Going Places, and C-SPAN II’s Book TV.
