Welcome to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Civil War Round Table (CWRT). The CWRT provides a forum for non-partisan study, education, and discussions concerning the American Civil War. CWRT has a variety of members. Some have exceptional knowledge of the Civil War; others know little and attend our meetings to learn. We are all drawn together by a desire to stay informed of the latest Civil War scholarship and to support preservation efforts.

Our monthly meetings feature speakers who are experts in their field.  Many are nationally recognized historians or regional / local experts.  Our programs cover a variety of topics relating to the war including personalities, battles and campaigns, technology, and social/economic issues.

The Calendar and Programs pages on this website list upcoming in-person and virtual programs offered by organizations such as the American Civil War Museum, various Civil War battlefield trusts, The Nau Center for Civil War Studies at the University of Virginia, the McCormick Civil War Institute at Shenandoah University, the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech and the Civil War Roundtable Congress.
