AUG 5 1862 Capt Alexander A Todd

American Civil War August 1862. August 5th: Captain Alexander A Todd, brother-in-law to the President but fighting for the Confederates, was killed in fighting during an attack on Baton Rouge. August 9th: In a clash at Cedar Mountain, the North lost nearly 1,500 men while the South lost just over 1,200.
